The Witch's Yearbook by Clare Gogerty

Hags of all kinds welcome here, esp to collect hag stones with me. The next time you go to the seaside and walk on a pebbly beach, look out for stones with holes in them. These have the unfortunate name 'hag stones,' a reference to an old superstition that they kept 'hags' or witches away from your home or your animals. If hung on a stable door, your horse was safe from a witch kidnapping it and riding it to the point of exhaustion. Nowawdays, these special stones are seen as a symbol of femininity and of the moon goddess Diana. Some witches collect them, and once they have 12, arrange them in a circle. Objects placed within the circle gain extra power.
